Public Art at ECQ Outlet

08 August 2025
Public art at ECQ Outlet

Eastern Creek Quarter Outlet is seeking artists to help bring two large-scale murals to life in our newest community and retail spaces within ECQ Outlet.

We believe public art plays a vital role in shaping vibrant, welcoming and meaningful spaces. It invites reflection. It sparks conversation. And it stays with us long after the paint dries.

In 2020, artist El Oso Negro Sign Co transformed ECQ with the ECQ Social mural, a vibrant piece that captured the spirit of community. Now, we’re building on that legacy with two new public art opportunities inside ECQ Outlet.

What Is Public Art?

Public art is more than a mural on a wall.

It’s storytelling in a public space.

It’s colour, culture, and community.

It’s the physical expression of the stories, identities and energy of the people who live, work, and gather in a place.

About the ECQ Public Art

We’re commissioning Expressions of Interest (EOI) for two new large-scale, hand-painted murals at ECQ Outlet. Each project will be shaped by community voices and brought to life by artists whose practice reflects connection, creativity, and cultural relevance.

  • Half Basketball Court Mural

A vibrant, large-scale mural located on our new half basketball court. Artists from all backgrounds are welcome to apply. No mural concept is required at this stage – just your story, your portfolio, and your vision for community connection.

  • Main Entry First Nations Mural

A culturally significant First Nations-led mural at the main entrance of ECQ Outlet. This commission is part of a broader commitment to Connection to Country and has been shaped through extensive consultation with Dharug Knowledge Holders. The selected artist will lead the mural’s development through cultural dialogue and meaningful community engagement.

Both commissions will be delivered through meaningful community engagement, with the support of our creative partner, Mamam.

Want to apply?

Both projects will be shaped by community engagement and will become long-standing visual landmarks in Western Sydney.

Submissions close 11:59pm AEST, August 31, 2025.
